We had our second parents’ evening yesterday for Baby bear. We had our first parents’ evening back in October and Baby bear was doing well for being at home after only 7 months in nursery. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried about how Baby bear was doing since being at home for the few months during the lockdown at the beginning of the year. As you know between me and Daddy bear we did our very best to try and keep up with the home learning to help him not fall behind too much.
To start off our second parents’ evening, his teacher thanked us for all our hard work during the lockdown to help Baby bear and her to keep him somewhat on track. It is obvious he missed out on learning as they weren’t at school and there was only so much we could do at home with our little ones. I must admit it was lovely to hear from his teacher that we did a good job as at the time it was hard and we doubted ourselves everyday.
We then moved on to how Baby bear is doing generally in school. His teacher informed us that Baby bear was a very social, happy little boy who is always making her and the people around him happy. He does however need to work on his focus and calming down, he is a very high energy boy who needs reminding to slow down and just calm. She told us his focus has gotten a lot better in smaller groups but it is still a little bit of a struggle in larger groups, there’s nothing wrong with that she assured us they just need to tweak how they help him progress the most he can.
Leading on from this though she did tell us how proud she is of how far he has come with his counting, phonics, and writing. His letter formation needs a little work but she isn’t concerned as he is a summer-born, social, full of beans little boy. We then spoke about where he was after their assessments they did once the children were back in school. I know you probably want to know and that’s why your reading this but I don’t think it’s fair to put them out there without his permission or understanding of what that would mean. All I will say is he did amazing (better than I thought to be honest) and we are so proud of him and how well he is doing.
The only rubbish bit of our second parents’ evening was that it was on zoom again, which worked fine and we got to find out how he is doing. However, it would have been nice to be able to sit and have a face-to-face meeting with his teacher for the first time since he started school. Either way, Well done Baby bear we are so proud fo you x
