As you may know, we love to bake in our house and have quite a sweet tooth so me and Baby bear decided to make some shortbread biscuits. Of course, they had to be Dinosaur shaped. They aren’t the healthiest and they didn’t look overly appealing (thanks to Baby bears decoration). Anyway this is how we made them.
Ingredients:
- 180g Plain Flour.
- 120g Butter softened.
- 1tsp Vanilla Extract.
- 60g Caster Sugar.
- 125g Icing Sugar.
- 15ml Water.
- Food Colouring.
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180’c.
Rub a piece of kitchen roll in butter and rub it all over a baking tray. Place the baking paper on top and press down.

Put the flour into a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and rub together with your fingers until it starts to look like breadcrumbs.

Then add the vanilla extract and sugar then continue mixing together.
Once mixed together squeeze into a ball in your hands. Place on a floured side.

Roll flat until around 1/2cm thick using a rolling pin. Flip over half way through rolling to help with it sticking.
Using your chosen cookie cutters, cut out the shapes and place them gently on the baking tray.

Re-roll your dough and re-roll until you can’t make any more shapes.
Place in the middle of the oven to bake for 12 minutes or until they are golden colour. Take out and place on a cooling rack.
Once completely cooled add the icing sugar, water and food colouring into a bowl and mix together and put in a piping bag.
Top tip: if you have bag clips add one to the piping bag above the icing to make it easier for your little one to ice their biscuits.

Your shortbread biscuits are ready and hopefully looking better than ours. This is what you get when you let your toddler pick what

I’ve not made shortbread biscuits with the children for ages. I’ll have to give your recipe a try
I’m not a huge fan of shortbread but these were very nice xx
